I currently teach 1st grade and have been teaching for 8 years. I have a M.A. in reading/literacy and a B.A. in English literature. I love helping students with reading and seeing that they too can read and enjoy doing so. It is truly magical to watch the "aha" moment when a child begins to read and realizes they did it!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am currently teaching 1st grade and have been teaching for 8 years. I have a B.A. in English Literature and a Masters in reading and literacy. In 1st grade there is a huge emphasis on learning to read and decoding strategies and working with guided reading groups. I enjoy teaching these strategies and watching students become active and engaged readers.
I currently teach 1st grade and have taught kindergarten and 1st for the past 8 years. I have a B.A. in English literature and a master's in reading/literacy. In kindergarten and 1st grade a huge emphasis is placed on phonemic awareness and reading. I enjoy working with children on these skills and helping them succeed. It is wonderful to watch students "light up" as they discover the joy of reading!
