As someone with a deep love and appreciation for math, and extensive experience working with students and kids, I would be thrilled to work to help you achieve what you'd like to achieve in math.

Throughout high school and college, the math classes I've most enjoyed and connected with have been the ones with the greatest teachers/professors. My high school calc teacher's boundless energy and enthusiasm for math made me excited to go to class every day. My college Analysis professor's creativity, kindness, and humor made me comfortable asking questions and stretching myself in a subject that was far from easy to grasp. My Fluid Dynamics professor's patience and clear desire for his students to understand the subject as fully as he did made me fascinated and enthralled by a subject I normally wouldn't have been all that excited by. This is the sort of experience I hope to bring to my students.

In high school, I spent a year tutoring my math teacher's son, spending time every week with him working on improving his skills and grades in Algebra and Geometry. Later on, I volunteered in my school's math tutoring lab for a year, where I helped other high school students in subjects ranging from Algebra to BC Calculus. I also have extensive experience as a camp counselor at a sleep-away camp in Maine, where I spent 8 weeks each summer constantly working with children aged 7-15. I also spent three years in college teaching environmental science to New York City first and second graders every week. Through all my experience working with children, from elementary school to high school, I've learned the importance of patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude in helping students learn.

I truly believe that math can be a wonderfully engaging and fascinating subject, as long as it is taught in the right way. With years of experience both tutoring in math and working with children and teenagers, I would love to

Great tutor!

Jimmy helped me review for an upcoming course and masterfully condensed about a semester of material into a great one hour review session. It was clear to me he really wanted to help me succeed for the next semester. He was well organized and had plenty of material ready well before the lesson.

Excellent Tutor

My daughter just had her first Ap calculus session with Jimmy, and she said she learned more in the two hours with him than the whole section with her teacher. They went over her review packet and she said she feels confident enough to take the exam after only this one session with him. We plan on continuing with Jimmy for the rest of her semester in Calculus so he can help her keep on track. We are both excited to have found him and look forward to much more learning!

Knowledgeable, friendly, and very patient!

Jimmy was so patient and helpful with me while helping with my discrete mathematics homework, and I could tell he was very prepared before our lesson began which I greatly appreciated. I was having trouble with this course all semester, but he was able to break down concepts I was having a lot of trouble grasping and made them much easier to understand. You can tell he is very knowledgeable, and that he really wants you to truly understand the material. I'd definitely recommend!
