I am a well-driven, hardworking young woman who loves mathematics in any form and helping others to learn the components of math. I find that the ability to teach comes easily to me, and I have a desire to help others comprehend and overcome their math challenges.
I have six years of math tutoring experience, both while I was attending high school, and post-graduation. I have mastered multiple math subjects and actively seek new knowledge.
I graduated high school in 2014 with a GPA of 3.94 and although I have not obtained a college degree in education or mathematics, I have completed four high school level courses and one full college level course in mathematics. I am also currently seeking a degree in Education with a concentration in Mathematics as I have discovered that it is my passion.
I am very flexible with my schedule and I look forward to meeting and assisting students with their math troubles. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to tutor Algebra 1 because although it was a long time ago, I took this course meant for high school freshmen as a seventh grader in middle school. I have tutored this subject the most in the past and I am most familiar with its concepts. I approach this subject from multiple ways, allowing students to understand both the way that their teacher taught the concept and other options that they have to reach a solution.
I am qualified to tutor students in Alegbra II because although it has been a few years, I took this class that was meant for high school juniors as a high school freshman in preparation for Advance Placement courses. I have tutored this subject for five years and I approach this subject with the student's assistance, allowing them to show me what they know so I can expand upon that knowledge and help them reach a solution.
I am qualified to tutor students in Geometry because although it was a while ago, I took this course designed for high school sophomores as an eighth grade student in middle school. I have tutored this subject for six years and I am familiar with the concepts that encompass Geometry as they are the base concepts for Trigonometry as well as other math subjects. I use a direct approach for this subject, as most of Geometry is formulas and memorization.
I am qualified to tutor students in Prealgebra because although it was a long while ago, I passed this course designed for eighth grade students as a sixth grade student in middle school. Although I have not directly tutored in this subject, I have retaught concepts from Prealgebra while tutoring Algebra I and Geometry. I approach this subject from multiple ways, allowing students to understand that in math, there are multiple ways to solve a problem.
