Hi! My name is Michele, and I love teaching and tutoring. I feel that one of the best experiences in life is to realize and learn something new, something that sparks your interest. As a former special education teacher for 13 years, I enjoy seeing children and adults be creative and achieve their highest potential. I will push and encourage each student to try harder, but never will I overwhelm. I am certified in Learning Disabilities (grades PreK-12) and Elementary Education (grades preK-8). I believe in building solid foundations and then adding on to the structure piece by piece. Learning can be fun but can take more work at the beginning. I prefer to teaching reading, writing, phonics, grammar, proofreading, math through grade 6, study skills, organization skills, and basic test preparation. I also scrapbook and make cards as part of my way to relax and would love to share papercrafting with anyone who would like to know.
Basic math is needed in everyday life. What would happen if the calculator disappeared or you had to pay cash for something, rather than use a debit card? Would you be able to figure out the correct change? Also, without each buiding block or foundation in math, it is more difficult to learn the next one and move on to more difficult concepts. Math can be challenging at times. Let me help you conquer it!
I love to read and write. Whether it is reading historical fiction, mysteries, or biographies, or writing in my journal or to my penpals, I find it also fascinating. I enjoy studying the Bible and learning principles from there that apply to my everyday life.
I believe that people each have a distinct learning style and way of understanding. I also feel that people can be taught to be more independent after the basics are completed. Each person is an individual and should be treated as one when being tutored.
I encourage you to contact me and see if we can work together. I would love to help you in any way I can. I prefer working in person and would prefer to work in your home or at a public place, such as the library. I am fairly flexible on the location. Looking forward to hearing from you. --Michele Hi! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I remember taking algebra 1 and being immensely confused. Letters and numbers together mixed with all kinds of rules. Then, I had a teacher break it down for me and suddenly it started to make sense. I would love to do the same for you.
I love to study the Bible. I have been reading the Bible on my own as well as completing a number of Bible studies by Beth Moore, Joyce Meyer, and others. I like to look up and research Scripture by using the NIV, Amplified, and the Message Bibles.
