About Sankaranarayanan

My love of teaching comes from my thirst for knowledge. Since I started school I have always been interested in learning more than was taught. This characteristic has exposed me to many opportunities such as working in pioneering research laboratories, becoming the National President of a Nation-Wide undergraduate healthcare organization, and pursuing my dream of becoming a physician. With this knowledge that I've gained through these experiences I wish to teach what I have learned to others.

I specialize in tutoring Math and Science subjects up until the collegiate level ranging from elementary math and science to AP Biology, Calculus, and Chemistry. I am also available to tutor standardized tests such as the SAT or the ACT.

I have previously spent time tutoring multiple students in math subjects including Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus.

I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in the May of 2016 with a B.S. in Biology as well as a minor in Chemistry. During my time at VCU I was able to expand my knowledge base by taking many different science classes that were not directly applicable to my major including, Human Evolution, Ethnobotany, Illness Narratives, Immunology, and Evolutionary Medicine just to name a few.

During my tutoring sessions my goal is to keep the student engaged but not overwhelmed. Leaving the session I want to provide them with information about the subject to think about, to encourage independent discovery of knowledge.

I am generally available for tutoring between 5:30 pm and 10:00 pm Monday - Friday. I am also available to travel to your location or meet the student online -- whichever you prefer.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve great successes in your studies!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Organic Chemistry

I completed Organic Chemistry I and II with an A and a B respectively. I also completed both labs associated with the courses with A's in both. I have a thorough understanding of the skills and concepts that are needed to complete this course and I have utilized the knowledge I learned while working in two different laboratories that required an in-depth knowledge of organic chemistry.
