In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I studied anthropology all four years of my college years. I graduated with a B in my senior thesis on female mutilation. And I read tons of books relating to this subject.

During college, I was a peer advisor for first year students. We had to prepare them for college and help them study and learn the basics of surviving school. Plus I was an ambassador to international students where we had to learn to transition the students to the way Americans studied and one way was through study skills.
