Hi. I'm Jeff. I'm a lifelong fan of languages, literature, and history, and I have taught just about everything, from Latin I to AP Vergil, from Ancient History to Modern Philosophy.
I grew up in New Jersey, where I attended both public and parochial schools. After earning my undergraduate degree in Classics at Rutgers University, I studied at the University of Oxford, where I earned a second BA and an MA, both in Classics. My experience at Oxford, where students and professors work together one-on-one, shaped my approach to teaching and to tutoring, and I always give my students the focused attention I received from the top scholars in my field.
For almost a decade I taught Latin, Greek, History, and Philosophy at several private schools in the Midwest and on the East Coast. I enjoyed working with every kind of student, from struggling freshmen to hard-charging seniors determined to get top marks on the AP exam. In addition to being a teacher, I was an academic advisor, a dormitory housemaster, and an athletic coach, so I know kids and love spending time with them.
I also have extensive experience in coaching writers and in editing every kind of writing. I began helping friends with their theses and research papers when I was Oxford and I've helped writers ever since. I've had a hand in editing five paragraph essays and books published by Oxford University Press, so I know I can help you with your writing, too. Hi. I'm Jeff. Grammar has been a favorite subject of mine since grade school, and I've spent most of my career studying it. My education in Latin and Greek have given me a great understanding of English grammar, and I've helped students in several different disciplines to understand and even to enjoy the rules and mechanics of the English language.
I'm a nit-picker who can't help proofreading everything I read. My education in Classics and my voracious reading have given me an eye for good (and bad!) writing, and I've successfully helped students, clients, and friends proofread their essays, business plans, and books. I know I can help you improve your writing and turn a great rough draft into something of which you can be very proud.
