About Niral

I have taught and tutored at USC and Wake Forest for 7 years, including being a teaching assistant for General and Organic Chemistry labs. I started tutoring students in biology and math at USC, and then moved on to chemistry after earning my degree. As a result (between undergraduate and graduate, I got to publish 7 papers and receive 1 patent). In graduate school, I've tutored nearly 60 students privately and make a habit of meeting with my students from labs out of class, to make sure they've mastered their concepts. I just love to teach!

By training, my experience is in synthetic organic chemistry, specializing in photochemistry of organic molecules, both for the absorptive properties and charge transfer dynamics. It's a lot of words to simply say...I'm a chemistry nerd. I love chemistry in every way, and I love to learn about interactions between things that we can't even see. That excitement led me to pursue graduate studies in Organic Chemistry, and helped to uncover my love of teaching it as well.My goal in life has always to be a teacher -- having learned from fantastic AP Biology and AP Chemistry teachers in high school, and exceptional professors at USC. They all taught me to take great pride in the success of my students. And having taught General and Organic chemistry at the college level, I feel that I can teach a variety of students, from any background.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

After graduate school, I chose to start tutoring online and have been a tutor for algebra, trigonometry, and geometry for the last few years. Math is very important to my field of study (chemistry), and I enjoy teaching students from middle school, high school, and college as well. I like to change the complicated concepts into easy-to-understand real-world scenarios, so people avoid the phrase "when am I ever going to need this?" Turns out...we use it a lot more than we think!

Chemistry

I taught and tutored Chemistry at the University of Southern California as well as Wake Forest University, having taught nearly 100 students. My students not only gave me excellent ratings as a TA, but many asked me to tutor them privately after their semester with me ended. Since then, I have worked as an online tutor for Chemistry as well, and have earned nearly 160 positive reviews for the way that I simplify and teach the subject. I love teaching, and there's nothing better than chemistry (in my very biased opinion)!

Clarinet

I have been proficient at clarinet for the last 13 years, having played in various ensembles, including the Blue Lake International Northern Winds, Midland Concert Band, H.H. Dow High School Symphonic Band, Symphony Orchestra, and most recently, with the University of Southern California Trojan Marching Band, and the Symphonic Concert Band In addition to playing in all of these ensembles, I was concertmaster for all by 2 of these ensembles, being the first chair clarinetist. I perform and have taught regularly, including a performance with the L.A. Philharmonic during College Invitational Night.

Organic Chemistry

I have spent the last 7 years performing undergraduate and graduate level research in synthetic organic chemistry. I tutored for the Supplemental Instruction (SI) program at USC, and have published 5 papers in the synthetic organic field, mostly recently involving symmetry breaking intramolecular charge transfer. My most recent research project involves synthesis of overcrowded systems of aromatic alkenes, which requires me to understand complex organic synthesis as well as spectroscopic techniques. I have taught 5 semesters of organic chemistry labs at Wake Forest University, as well as tutoring nearly 150 sessions on InstaEDU on the subject.

SAT Math

When taking the SAT math, I received a perfect score of 800. Since then I have worked with students in both sophomore and junior years to raise their grades on the SAT by about 200 points across the board. Being an organic chemist requires a lot of math, and it's one of my strongest subjects.

Knowledgeable and Patient tutor

Mr.Niral is a very nice tutor who has patience and good in explaining the material and making sure you understand. I know sometimes a tutor is put on the spot actually not knowing what a student knows or has learn or their weakness in a given time frame. Mr. Niral in twice meeting him for my tutoring session always has a friendly smile and makes sure you understand so that you can do well on a qu
