About Daniel

Greetings students! My name is Daniel K., and I am an expert in science, mathematics and medical studies. I offer tutoring in Biology, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, Chemistry, Physics and all levels of math up through Algebra II. I also specialize in helping aspiring medical students prepare for the MCAT. Having thoroughly studied the ins and outs of the MCAT for many years, I can greatly assist you in achieving fantastic results on this important test.

I have spent many years as a tutor specializing in Human Anatomy, Mathematics and general medical studies. In the past, I have taught students at countless middle schools and learning centers across the country. Additionally, I have also assisted high school students in preparing for various standardized tests, such as the SAT and the ACT.

Before becoming a tutor, I studied mathematics and science in college. I possess a MS in Biomedical Sciences and a BA in Biology. Those years of studies, along with my passion for math, science and philosophy, have helped to make me the exceptional tutor that I am today. For me, science and math aren’t just ordinary subjects; they are ways of life.

When tutoring, I like to form a personal bond with my students. I try to keep the mood lighthearted and fun, as I find it is the best way to ease the tension and pressure when studying highly complex material in mathematics and science. Although the MCAT is a serious examination, I believe that making test preparation enjoyable is the prime method for achieving desirable results. If you receive tutoring from me, not only can I promise that you will achieve great success, you will also have a fun time in the process!

I charge $50 per hour for my tutoring services, and I guarantee outstanding results. If you have any questions or you would like to inquire about receiving tutoring, please send me a message, and I will return it as soon as possible. Thanks, and have a great day!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 2

I did well on the MCAT. The MCAT included a section called the Physical Sciences section. This section required a lot of math up to Algebra II.

Anatomy

I took anatomy with medical students.

Biostatistics

I took biostatistics in college and grad school. I learned how to do various tests when population parameters weren't available. Plus I learned various ways biostatistics was applied to the real world. I’ve taught human gross anatomy to nurse anesthetist students.

Botany

I took botany in grad school. I got so much extra credit that I didn't need to take the final. I also took medical ethnobotany. I have a background in clinical medicine, biomedical research, and education. I’ve also taught human gross anatomy to nurse anesthetist students.

Chemistry

I took honors chemistry in high school. I took general chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, and biochemistry in undergrad. I took biochemistry in grad school.

Clarinet

I started playing the clarinet for my school band in 6th grade. I started playing the clarinet for marching band in 8th grade. I attended Manhattan School of Music Prep on clarinet.

Ear Training

I took ear training at Manhattan School of Music Prep. I took ear training at UC Berkeley. Plus I have perfect pitch.

General Music

I took ear training at Manhattan School of Music Prep. I took music theory at Manhattan School of Music Prep. I took composition at Manhattan School of Music Prep.

Genetics

I took genetics in college and grad school. I learned beyond Mendelian genetics to learn molecular genetics and genomics. I read papers in genetics. And I’ve taught human gross anatomy to nurse anesthetist students.

Geometry

I studied Euclid. I tutored SAT Geometry. Plus I applied geometry in physics.

MCAT

I scored a 39T on the MCAT. Breakdown is 13 on Verbal, 14 on Physical Sciences, 12 on Biological Sciences, and T on the Writing Sample. Which means that I scored above 95th percentile on all sections of the MCAT. I used to work for Kaplan as an MCAT Instructor.

I also scored a 5 on the AP English Literature exam. This and my fascination with philosophy and mathematical proof have enabled me to score very high on Verbal and on the writing sample, which carried into my fantastic score on Physical Sciences due to my ability to reason and my facility with manipulating equations. Finally, my credentials, which include a BA in Biology and a MS in Biomedical Sciences, have given me the science background necessary to engage with passages and questions in Biological Sciences.

Organic Chemistry

I took organic chemistry in college and grad school. I was the top student in organic chemistry in grad school. I scored 95th percentile on the Biological Sciences section of the MCAT, which includes organic chemistry.

Physics

I took AP Physics in high school.

Piano

I took nine years of piano lessons. I began by learning how to read music. Then I performed all the way to Chopin.

Sight Singing

I have perfect pitch. I took ear training at Manhattan School of Music Prep. I took ear training at UC Berkeley. I also took music theory at Manhattan School of Music Prep.

Statistics

I took statistics in college and in grad school. I've tutored AP Statistics before. Plus I've used statistics as a lab tech as well.
