I have worked with a variety of students mostly in elementary and post-graduate special education programs. The types of students I have worked in at the elementary level are mostly in need of help in reading, writing and math. Most students are on an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or 504 plan. I have greatly enjoyed working with elementary students in Grades 3, 4 and 5 as well working in the Title I Program with students in Grades 2 and 3. Flexible depending on number of sessions
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I currently work with students under the Autism spectrum in a Public School district. This is my second year working with students age 14-17 at a Charter school. Prior to that, in Massachusetts, I worked with Elementary age children under the spectrum as well as private tutoring.
I have 4 years of working with students as a teaching assistant in Grades 2, 3 and 4. I worked to help students who needed support according to their IEP in all academic subjects. I worked with students with a variety of disabilities in moderate special needs as well as working in low incidence classrooms.
