I would, like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am a college graduate from Mary Baldwin College. I have a master’s degree of Art in teaching, with professional teaching license for PreK-6 making me fully qualified to teach and tutor in Virginia.

I want all children to become avid active learners in the classroom and I believe that
"When you wish upon a star it makes no difference who you are."

I believe that every child is unique and through differentiation is capable of a magical learning experience. I believe that if “you shoot for the moon and miss you will still land among the stars”.

Your dreams will come true.

By cultivating our student’s knowledge through means of encouraging their interaction, arousing their curiosity, and asking higher level questions we are helping them grow. By teaching them learning strategies and interweaving positive discipline, democratic principles, and accountability they will become responsible learners. I will give them the tools they need to become flexible problem solvers that will help them prepare for their future. It is the student who will ultimately decide whether learning is worth the risk and effort required to acquire it. Through proper guidance, formative assessment and positive communication I can assist them in believing they are smart enough and strong enough to learn. It is how they choose to use their tools and skill sets that I present to them that will define them and transform them into who the beautiful flowers they will become.

I have recently graduated from Mary Baldwin College with a Master’s degree of Art in Teaching. While I was a student at Mary Baldwin College I concentrated on elementary education. I completed many courses that focused on the foundations of learning and how to educate students by using creative, engaging ways that would enhance their natural learning ability and increase their overall knowledge and skill sets for the Virginia Standards of Learning assessments. I have obtained my collegiate professional teaching license for PREK-6 making me fully qualified to teach in Virginia schools. I have also completed courses on technology standards and have passed the department of education’s state board exams for the Virginia Reading Assessment, the Virginia Communication and Literacy Assessment and the Praxis II for elementary education content knowledge (language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science). In my spare time I substitute for Henrico County Public Schools and teach Sunday school. I have had experience in the classroom and working with children on a one on one environment. My goal is to help and encourage children to learn by offering them multiple modes of learning.

I teach phonics to 4 and 5 year olds. I teach and assist them in understanding and associating the alphabet letters to each unique sound through a variety of activities such as songs, signs and sound recognition, and games.
