My methods would be to listen to what the student specifically needs to focus on and not stray away from the ultimate goal which would be getting a better grade in the class. I also have numerous grammar and phrase books and other materials that could help further a student's understanding of the language.
As for those students who are older or those who are not currently enrolled in school, there are still many ways to help improve your French. I can share my knowledge with those who are interested in conversational French as well as those who need to brush up on their skills.
