I have had experience tutoring and teaching math at all levels. I have taught math courses at Thomas Nelson Community College and Rappahannock Community College, and have been a teacher's assistant at the College of William and Mary. I excel in a tutoring environment, and have repeatedly seen students' grades rise significantly after our sessions.
In my own experiences, I have found that in mathematics, each student needs a unique approach. I would highly recommend Scott P. as an excellent mathematics tutor. Scott was a great help to me in a graduate-level, quantitative methods statistics class. Scott has a very pleasant personality and is very kind and patient. He does a great job of walking through the process of tackling a mathematics problem, step by step. Scott utilizes diagrams and examples very well. Based upon my excellent tutoring experience with him, I believe he would work well with all ages of children, teenagers, young adults, and adults. I believe any parent would be very comfortable with Scott tutoring their child. I plan on utilizing Scott's mathematics expertise on an ongoing basis. I would give Scott P. a "five star" rating in all applicable categories. I hope Scott will consider teaching mathematics full-time in our school division - we could use an excellent mathematics teacher like Soctt!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
