I am a high school teacher with 30 years of experience teaching students. This year I am focusing on AP Economics - both micro and macro, along with academic economics and our virtual economics course. I find this class to be a challenge to many students due to the abstract concepts and "new terminology" to many of the students. Due to this difficulty, it has been my goal to help each and every student find success through practice tests, multiple review sessions and creating various means by which the students can relate to the material. Although I have a year, my goal is to finish both "college level courses" by mid April so that I have plenty of time to refresh and review with the students for their AP tests in May.
During my "off time," when I am not creating tests or worksheets, I enjoy helping my son learn his materials for school along with spending time with my family. My relaxation includes the new "fad" of adult coloring books along with scrapbooking and cross stitch. As one can see, I do like to stay busy and love helping students find success in the subject of their choosing.
I have taken the AP course on teaching both micro and macro economics. I spend multiple hours each week reviewing my material from the past and "tweaking it" to fit the students in my class today. My scores on the AP tests are not all 5s but I have seen a great deal of improvement through the years. My goal is help students "love the dismal science" of economics and enjoy the class.
I taught AP Government for more than 15 years in my previous school system and my current school system. I have had ample practice with both the United States government side of the course, as well as the comparative government side of the course. As with economics, it is my goal to find a means for students to find success (yes sometimes, I have to find "memory devices" that work with individuals). The last two years were the only years I have not taught AP Government to high school students.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
