In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am certified to teach elementary education in the state of Virginia. My license qualifies me to teach grades Pre-K-6th. I currently teach in title one elementary school in Chesterfield County that just came out of school improvement.
I am qualified to tutor for SOLS due to my experience teaching and tutoring students that have previously not been successful with the rigorous tests our state requires. Many of my students have experienced growth. For example this past year, I had seven students that were recovered in reading. Recovery means the student did not pass the test their previous year, but they passed during their tenure in my class.
