First, I want to say thank you and welcome to my page!
I've worked in the educational field for almost ten years in some capacity, from a geometry and algebra teacher with Americorps to a TOEFL and ESL instructor in Costa Rica and Korea. Nothing makes me happier than to see a student succeed in their endeavors, whether its from a high mark on an essay or to feel confident with delivering a speech. My love of teaching and tutoring comes from the love of watching a student achieve or master a subject. I am even committed to learning currently as a graduate student at ODU, so I can relate to their struggles in learning.
I have experience tutoring students in ESL, TOEFL test prep, English language and literature, essay writing, and speech and debate. I can also teach reading and writing to small as well.
My cancellation policy is two hours before each session if needed. However, I do also offer makeup sessions for students who are unable to make their appointments. I am willing meet wherever if comfortable for you, if it is in a coffee shop, or the student's home.
I have about five years teaching ESL and TOEFL test prep in two countries. I received my BA in Creative Writing from UC Riverside and am currently pursuing my MFA at Old Dominion University. With my experience and love of writing and public speaking I am confident I can help with bringing the strongest traits of a students writing to the surface while giving suggestions to refine their style.
Once again, thank you for visiting my page! Please contact me if you have any other questions. First, I want to say thank you and welcome to my page!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
In high school I was a shy and quiet person and I participated in public speaking to get out of my shell. I became quite good at it and joined the Oceanside High School speech and debate club from 2000-2002. I won various awards for forensics in subjects such as Impromptu, Original Oratory and Oratorical Interpretation. I also went to the state championship twice. My experience in the education field can help me coach students in public speaking.
