Bio

I did my schooling in South Carolina (SC) in the Lowcountry, Charleston area. I was Valedictorian of my 8th grade class at a private, Catholic grade school, Divine Redeemer. This means that I had the highest grade in each subject and I took high school courses such as Algebra and Spanish before getting into high school. I participated in dance, gymnastics, and cheerleading. I also won Spanish declamation contests every year.

I went to a private, Catholic High School, Bishop England and was part of the National Honor Society all 4 years, as well as a member of the Spanish National Honor Society all 4 years, and took college prep courses in Spanish and Calculus. I cheered, ran cross country, sang the National Anthem during one homecoming. I interpreted Spanish at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and volunteered at Trident hospital. I went to a liberal arts college, College of Charleston and majored in Biology and double minored in health and dance. I was on the Dean's list. I participated in a couple of research projects, one within the college and another at MUSC. I did not have to take any Spanish courses in college because I was considered a fluent speaker. To this day I can speak conversationally due to my inherent love of Spanish culture as I am part Spanish. I taught dance on the side at the Naval Weapons Station and the Robert Ivey School of Ballet and was a member of a dance company headed by Alternease "Rage" Griffin. I volunteered for a crisis line, 211 Trident United Way and the South Carolina Aquarium. I took the Medical College admissions test twice to get into medical school and realized I wanted to pursue a career in cytology (cyto). I was accepted into a class of 12 where I made the dean's list, worked several part time jobs, continued dancing with the same company as well as the J2 Modern Dance Company and obtained my Master's degree. I worked for 6 months as a cytologist at the Department of Health and Environmental Control in Columbia, SC before I decided to relocated closer to my family and obtained a job as a medical/cyto assistant at MUSC in Bronchoscopy, as well as an assistant in Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) procedure, and in the cardiothoracic unit. I worked in this field for 2 years before revisiting cyto for several months in Kansas. Throughout my career I have traveled to the Philippines, Chicago, California, Baltimore as well as working in New York for 2.5 years after working in Kansas, then working in Jacksonville Beach for a year and a half. I have constantly been attentive to physical fitness as well as engaging in entrepreneurship and establishing networks and intelligible relationships. I enjoy teaching anything that I am knowledgeable about and have an open door policy encouraging open discussion and analytic thinking. I am very technology savvy and understand the importance of convenience in a tutoring environment but am well aware of actual physical interaction depending on the subject at hand. I am currently in Gulfport because my husband who is in the Navy was just stationed here.
