Hesi A2 Math
I had one session with Michael and he was very helpful. Definitely worth it! I had a great experience and I would recommend him for any math tutoring. I passed my HESI A2 (first attempt) today and did great on the math section. The math section is also my weakest area so I was nervous at first. However, Michael keeps explanations simple and straightforward. He can also provide multiple ways to approach and solve problems. Michael's engaging lesson plan definitely prepared me to succeed!
Andrea, 1 lesson with MichaelTutor responded:Congratulations, Andrea! I am so happy to hear that you have passed your HESI A2 exam. What has always attracted me to math is that there is one exact answer, but there are many ways to obtain it. There is no one "best way" to solve a problem, as some students occasionally ask me. I tell them that the best way to solve a problem is the way that makes most sense to them, as long as it is logical and sound. What I offer is an alternative way to solve certain problems, but I let the student decide whether he or she finds it helpful. Otherwise, I will adapt my approach to fit the student's learning style. Good luck to you in your future endeavors, Andrea.
patient and knowledgeable
Very patient and knowledgeable. Really helps you get the hang of a problem. I definitely would use him for more sessions.
Chenell, 4 lessons with MichaelTutor responded:Thank you, Chenell. I really do appreciate the positive review. I look forward to continuing to work with you.
Great tutor
Michael worked with my son over a period of weeks to improve his verbal analogy skills and word knowledge abilities. He was patient and encouraging, yet held him accountable for studying in between lessons. He also gave him strategies for narrowing down the answers which has been most valuable. I would highly recommend him and not hesitate to use him again in the future. John A
John, 14 lessons with MichaelTutor responded:Thank you, sir, for leaving this feedback. It has been a pleasure watching Garrett grow in confidence with each successive lesson. His friendly, polite demeanor was very refreshing. It is encouraging to know that there are members of the younger generation like your son who will be tomorrow's leaders.
AFOQT session 2
Michael is extremely patient and will continuously go over a problem I am having the most difficulty with. He always demonstrates different techniques to use and recommends the simplest one to utilize.
JAMIE, 4 lessons with MichaelTutor responded:Thank you for the compliment, Jamie. One of the main things I love about math is that there are often several ways to solve a problem. This is especially important with timed, standardized tests. I try to share these methods with students so that they can identify the one that works best for them.
Best Math Tutor
Michael is a great listener. He understands my weaknesses. He helps me understand the problem and how it is solved.
Monica, 2 lessons with MichaelTutor responded:Thank you for this review, Monica. A famous person once said there was a reason why God gave us two ears and one mouth. We can learn more by listening, and I learn a lot from and about my students each lesson.
Great Tutor all around
Michael is a great tutor all around. I am studying for the TEAS exam, and I was anxious to study English and Math, because I am an ESL student, and I do not learn the same way as native speakers do. But Michael presents the topics perfectly and simple enough for me to grasp the material and remember it. He follows up with a summary of the lessons and tells me exactly what I need to work on and what the plan is for the future. He makes me feel organized and on track. I highly recommend Michael as a tutor!
Gerald, 8 lessons with MichaelTutor responded:Thank you very much, Gerald, for the positive feedback. I have learned as both a student and as a tutor that simplicity is the best approach. Unfortunately, some instructors have a tendency to make things more complicated than they need to be. Let me also thank you for taking the time to read the summaries that I provide after each lesson. I do put a lot of thought and effort into them for the benefit of the student.
Always a great lesson and my son is gaining the info he needs for the ASVAB.
My son is gaining a lot of information during his lessons with Michael. I am happy with the results thus far. We will continue to have sessions with Michael.
Susan, 4 lessons with MichaelTutor responded:Thank you, Susan. I can tell that Tyler is eager to learn, and I am sure that his dedication and hard work will translate into success on the ASVAB and beyond.
First session success!
Michael was on-time and got right into the lesson. My son's attention was focused for the full hour. We are happy with our first session!

Review for Michael A
Michael was the best mathematics teacher I've had. He keeps explanations simple and straightforward. He can provide multiple ways to approach and solve problems. He's patient. And, most importantly, Michael allows students the time to solve problems for themselves first -- building test-taking confidence in the work of completing practice problems. Michael should be considered as a first-rate resource for any level of student looking to improve their mathematics comprehension.
Theo, 16 lessons with MichaelTutor responded:Thank you, Theo, for such a glowing review. My very first supervisor told us that she would not correct our mistakes, but she would instead allow us to go back and correct them, because we would learn better that way. That approach also applies to tutoring. During my days as a student, I always found teachers and professors who spoke in plain and simple terms to be easier to understand than those who used complicated technical language. I always try to put myself in the student's shoes. I treat him or her the same way I would want to be treated if I needed tutoring. Lastly, I always tell students there are often multiple ways to solve a problem, and the best way to solve it is the way that makes the most sense to him or her. I am so glad that you passed your AFOQT, and I wish you good luck in your future endeavors.
Extremely Knowledgeable and Highly Recommend
I had 3 sessions with Michael. In that very short time, he explained every problem in detail and broke things down in such a simple manner to where not only you understand, but you don’t forget how to apply what he has taught you when doing math problems. I haven’t done Algebra/Reasoning since graduating high school almost 30 years ago. The way he teaches, makes you remember the “simple” steps and makes you feel comfortable to take your exams. Never once did he make me feel inadequate. I highly recommend using Michael for your tutoring needs.
Shelan, 2 lessons with MichaelTutor responded:Shelan, it was truly a pleasant experience working with you. I appreciate your compliments. I have encountered so many students like yourself who only need a brief refresher on things that they may have learned several years ago but not used recently. I never want to make a student feel inadequate or uncomfortable. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to work with so many great people, and I wish you the best of luck with your test.
