About Michael

I have always had a passion for math and English. I thoroughly enjoy working with students to help them better understand both of these wonderful languages. I graduated magna cum laude from Christopher Newport University with a B.A. degree in Mathematics and the highest GPA in the Math Department. I have over 20 years experience as a private tutor. I also have three years experience as a math tutor for CNU.

I specialize in tutoring math and English, including preparation for the SAT, ACT, and ASVAB. I have worked with students from elementary school up to college level. I cover all math topics up through Calculus I.

My objective is to help the student comprehend and master the material. I do not simply provide the student with answers.

I am available for online tutoring each day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. I will meet students for in-person tutoring at a public place such as the library anytime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. My base rate is $35/hour for online lessons. Most in-person lessons begin at $20 per hour.

I look forward to hearing from you in the near future. Together, we will achieve your goals to succeed in your lessons. Thank you in advance for your business!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
