About Michael

I have always had a passion for math and English. I thoroughly enjoy working with students to help them better understand both of these wonderful languages. I graduated magna cum laude from Christopher Newport University with a B.A. degree in Mathematics and the highest GPA in the Math Department. I have over 20 years experience as a tutor. This includes stints as a math tutor for Christopher Newport University and Thomas Nelson Community College.

I specialize in tutoring math and English, including preparation for the SOL, GED, SAT, ACT, and ASVAB exams. I have worked with students from elementary school up to college level. I cover all math topics up through Calculus I. I also have experience with the ALEKS online tutoring and assessment program.

My objective is to help the student comprehend and master the material. I do not simply provide the student with answers.

I am available for online tutoring each day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. I will meet students for in-person tutoring at a public place such as the library anytime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. My base rate is $35/hour. There will be a 20% cancellation fee in the amount of $7.00 for any lessons canceled without giving 24 hours prior notice.

IMPORTANT: please add your payment info to Wyzant prior to discussing dates and times of availability! This must be done in compliance with Wyzant's policies and procedures. Once you have done this, please provide me with a phone number where you may be reached so that we can confirm meeting times and locations.

I look forward to hearing from you in the near future. Together, we will achieve your goals to succeed in your lessons. Thank you in advance for your business!
