About Noah

I am a junior currently attending the College of William and Mary. I have begun seeking my History major, which will feed into the graduate program in Education. I have an infectious love of learning, conversation, and helping others achieve their goals. I spent 13 years as a retail manager, so I add in the ability to structure a task and get it done on time.

Personally, I am married with a nine year old daughter. I enjoy fishing, reading, writing, hobby games-such as board games-and discussing various topics among friends and fellow students. My college program is based around my love of History and writing, as well as my desire to enter the education field. Learning can be fun but can also be sometimes daunting. I am here to help!

I have extensive training through years of writing intensive college courses. As a History major, much of what you learn revolves around analyzing data, forming it into a coherent argument, and presenting it in a clear manner. As such, I am able to edit for clarity and errors with ease and provide easy to follow feedback on these issues.

History is my favorite subject, especially American History. It is also my major in college. I have enjoyed the subject my whole life. often at the High School level and below, History is presented as a subject of dates and numbers. While these things are important, without context they don't matter. I can bring the story behind the data, which will aid my students in understanding and retaining what their educational institution is looking for.

If you are having trouble grasping writing, grammar, or historical concepts, I can help! Often it just takes a set of fresh eyes. Whether you are frustrated or simply looking to round out your understanding of these subjects, we can work together to figure it out!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Writing

One of the most critical skills learned in college is both reading and writing abilities. As a History major, reading and interpreting are vital to the success of the student. I bring years of experience dealing with these issues to the table and have the perspective of a student to aid in understanding the tutoring needs.
