I would be delighted to be your piano instructor. I have played piano and organ for over 30 years, beginning as a child with private instruction, and progressing until I was hired as the pianist and organist at my church at the age of 17. Ever since I have worked part time as a church musician, serving at various churches as choir director, pianist, or organist. Over the years I have occasionally taken on piano students as time allowed.
I hold Masters of Business Administration from George Mason University and have spent most of my career working as an accountant and software analyst and I am now free to devote more time to my passion for music. I currently hold the position of accompanist with the Mineral Baptist Church in Mineral, Virginia where I live with my wife and two teenage children. In addition to the piano and organ I also play the electronic keyboard with the church's Praise Team where I have a blast improvising my own keyboard part.
I am equally adept at traditional classical music as well improvising jazz and pop. This puts me in a position to not only train you to play the notes on the written page but convey the understanding you need to create your own music, so that it sounds the way you want it to sound!
If you live in the Central Virginia area and are interested in private piano instruction, please contact me. I look forward to hearing from you. I would be delighted to be your piano instructor. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
