I'm Jacob! I graduated high school summa cum lade with a 5.25 GPA. Currently I am a junior at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and have a 4.0 GPA as a Civil Engineering student with a minor in mathematics. Growing up, school was always difficult for me due to my attention deficit disorder. The trouble arrived in the classroom where I was just a number. Learning for me occurred at home. Teachers and professors are taught to engage towards the entire classroom; however, some students are left out. I believe that by creating personal connections, I can ensure that everyone is obtaining the same education. Due to personal academic struggles as a child, I know what it feels to be left behind in the educational system. That's why I am willing to go the extra mile to establish a firm foundation for those who are seeking help and clarification. Over the years of tutoring, I have created lesson plans that are broken up into multiple sections with the questions already printed out for the students, saving precious learning time. I believe that tutors should have extremely organized and structured lesson plans to save time for the student, as well as instill organization. While this is the way I learn, this method can be adjusted to any subject and for the student's individual needs.
I have over four years of tutoring mathematics from algebra 1 all the way up to calculus 2. In high school, I worked directly with students who needed assistance through the counseling office. This was strictly a volunteering experience for over a year. While most of my tutoring sessions have been geared towards those struggling with calculus, I have been able to create extremely detailed lesson plans and outlines that cover these subjects at a high school and college level. Depending on the length and difficulty of the class, I am able to manipulate and focus this template towards certain aspects of the class and make sure it is learned and mastered within a determined time period.
My goal with becoming a tutor is to directly benefit those who are struggling with mathematics. I have completed about two years of tutoring for no cost and I wish I could continue that as my goal is not for monetary gain. That is why my rates are affordable. I want to make sure that students who need assistance are given the right help they need at a personal level. I believe that together, we can begin to make mathematics add up for everyone, no matter one's age, status or educational level.

Very Helpful Tutor
Jacob is an awesome, personable tutor who goes out of his way to make sure that you truly understand the information you need for your class. I am in a college calculus 2 class and he really got me to where I wanted to be. I am confident in how I study now, and he has gone out of his way to be flexible for me. This is actually a steal on Wyzant and if you are lucky to find him I would definitely suggest contacting him for help.Jack, 14 lessons with Jacob

So pateint and made everthing clear
We practice mathematical models. What i love about him is that he breaks down problem and then makes you explain it back to him. It's not just about finding the answer, he makes sure you understand the process and each step before moving on. Amazing tutor.Fadima, 5 lessons with Jacob
I enjoyed my tutoring session with Jacob. He was very clear in his explanations and always provided me with extra info about the types of problems or great ways to remember or understand concepts. The flow was of the lesson was very nice too. He encouraged questions and was very positive and patient. He allowed me to forward him information ahead of time which was great so more time was not wasted during the lesson. Best of all, he knew the material.Kristen, 2 lessons with Jacob
Thorough and patient!
Jacob was awesome at helping me with my Calculus 2. He showed me tricks to help and reminded me of rules that had been forgotten between taking the derivative of an anti-derivative approximately one mabillionty times. Jacob ensured that he was prepared to help me cover topics that I would be tested/quizzed on by reviewing my class materials before our session. I would definitely recommend Jacob as a tutor!Megan, 2 lessons with Jacob
