Virginia Commonwealth University (Biology)
Greetings Everybody! I am currently in my senior year at VCU where I am majoring in Biology and a minor in Chemistry with a concentration in Medicine. Simultaneously studying for the MCAT I took time out of school and work to tutor some of my fellow classmates ranging from ages 19 and up. I have 2 – 3 years of tutoring experience from my first university that I attended (The City University of New York). In my second year at that university the Biology department hired me where I tutored subjects such as principles of biology I and II with their corresponding labs, human anatomy and physiology I and II also with their corresponding labs and biostatistics.
Then a year later my organic chemistry Professor referred me to become a chemistry tutor. From there I started to work with the Chemistry department and tutored subjects such as general chemistry I and II, organic chemistry I and II, and on occasion biochemistry. Every week we did training exercises in groups of 5 with all the other tutors. These exercises helped us as tutors detect the student’s strengths and weaknesses. That really helped me to know what a student’s study habit looks like and how to help that student improve. I still to this day utilize these skills that I have acquired for the student’s benefit.
Being successful in complex subjects such as organic chemistry is far more than just memorizing. I believe I can really help you understand those concepts. Rather than just putting loads of information in your head for one exam and then just forgetting it right after is just a waste of time. I think it’s the art of practice and understanding because practice does not make perfect it makes PERMANENT!
Please feel free to contact me. I am very flexible with scheduling and very willing to meet with you and be a apart of your success story!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have over 3 years of experience in tutoring anatomy. In all my anatomy classes I was among the top 5 students. I have great knowledge of this subject and I know what it takes to explain all the complex structures encountered in the human body. I usually like to teach anatomy more visually rather than just looking at a textbook and pointing out where specific structures are in the body.
I am a qualified tutor in general chemistry and able to teach all concepts. I have been tutoring the subject for the past three years and have a very strong foundation for the understanding of the subject.
