I'm Justin K. I am a current undergraduate student at Johns Hopkins University, class of 2022. I am majoring in Applied Mathematics and Writing Seminars. While I may be relatively lacking in the amount of professional teaching experience, I nonetheless know and love the merits of being a teacher. Regardless of inherent talent, place of origin, or area of expertise, the growth of oneself depends on the teacher - what sort of guidance they give, not just in their subject, but in the methods of study and personality as well. Even within the same subject, the skills of the instructors can make all the difference.

I have long admired them for their talent and dedication. I sought out tutoring jobs and spent three years as an assistant teacher in the FCCGW Korean School. During there, I learned to not just teach, but to treat the students in a personal manner as well, to respect them yet reprimand them when needed. I daresay I had the knowledge enough to tutor; but this is where I realized the mindset needed for a truly outstanding teacher, instead of a robotic voice that reads out facts.

I would like to get to know the student, to see what they like and what they are struggling on, and try to figure out exactly why they are the people they are. I would like to gain their trust, so that they could confide in me, both in study and in person. I would certainly aim for much progress, but I don't want to create a stressful environment; that is why I want to know the students while I teach them, so that I could find a style of learning best suited for them. Again, my lack of a proper teaching job may be a problem for some, but please know that I am sincere in my ambition and enthusiasm for teaching, as well as the knowledge of how to be an effective teacher.

I have received consistently high grades in mathematics, both in classes and in standardized tests and AP tests. In JHU, I am currently an applied mathematics major. I can cover a large number of branches in mathematics up to high school senior level.

Writing has been my passion since high school. I have been consistently writing for my school newspaper both in high school and in college. I have also submitted several works for fiction contest, and was the winner of the 2016 Ray Bradbury Creative Contest. I can help out with essay writing, research papers, or creative writing.

I would like to know you - not just your grades or your skills, but your hobbies, what you like and dislike. I don't wish tutoring sessions to be something you dread, but rather, something you can have fun in despite the fact that we're studying. After all, those classes garner the most enthusiasm, and consequently, produce the best results.

Korean

I am born from a Korean family, and so naturally learned to speak, listen, read, and write fluently in Korean. However, as I have spent a good number of years in the US, my English is fluent as well, effectively allowing me to use dual languages. Therefore, I can teach Korean in either Korean or English, depending on the student's desires.
