I had an introduction and one session with Haydar and was very impressed. We couldn't continue the lessons because he had to travel. Haydar is a very patient and very experienced teacher. He is suitable for beginners and advanced students. I would definitely recommend him as a tutor.
Hope you are well and making big strides in learning Arabic.
Pardon me for not acknowledging your feedback. I just saw it. As you may know, I have been in the process of relocating to McLean from Fredericksburg. I did not have Internet service for the past month. I got it a few days ago.
Thank you profusely for these kind words.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been teaching Arabic language to both native Arabic-speaking and non-Arabic speaking students for more than twenty years.
I tutored graduate Arabic language students at New York University, NYC. I established classes upon request by a church in Manhattan, NYC, and by the Saudi National Bank Branch in Manhattan, NYC.
Currently, and since 2004, I am a full time Arabic Language teacher at the Foreign Service Institute, State Department. As of 2005,I have also been teaching weekly Arabic Language classes on a part-time basis at the Fairfax County Adult and Community Education Center.
I teach both Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and some spoken Arabic dialects (i.e. "Amyiah"): Egyptian, Levantine (i.e. Syrian dialect spoken in Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Israel and Syria), Sudanese and Saudi.
My MSA classes teach the three language skills: Reading, Speaking and writing. While emphasis is placed on reading for comprehension, listening for comprehension and speaking, attention is accorded to writing, which helps reinforce all skills.
I have been a freelance ESL/ESOL teacher/tutor for more than twenty years in Sudan, the United Kingdom and the US. Along with my long experience in teaching Arabic language and Arabic-English translation, I am capable of helping ESL/ESOL students. My strength lies in having a solid grasp of the problems they encounter in learning English and how to overcome them.
I have been approved by WyzAnt Tutoring Program to tutor in ESL/ESOL Reading and Writing. I taught English to non-native English speakers in Sudan, the UK and the US. As an Associate professor, I used English language to teach at the School of Continuing Education. My long working experience as an Economic Advisor, ghost-writer and Arabic -English translator required having a high standard of English language.
As a freelance English teacher for more than twenty years, I consider writing skill as an integral part of learning a language. That is why I always give a special emphasis and attention to improving students' writing skills. It is an excellent practical way for applying all that a student could acquire from grammar concepts, reading material and vocabulary to establish his/her own composition style.
