I am eager to begin helping you learn calculus, probability, statistics, Excel and electrical engineering. I have used these subjects in my job almost every day for over 40 years, and feel very comfortable with them. I am an electrical engineer, and I solve real world engineering and science problems in my job designing electronic equipment.

I frequently have to learn new mathematical and scientific concepts for my work. Whenever a new problem comes along, I like to research it and learn all I can about how to solve it. I try to get a practical and intuitive understanding, so that I not only know how to do the math, but also understand what any equations mean and why they work. I often get to teach co-workers what I have learned, and I love doing that. I hope I can pass along my enthusiasm to you.

In addition to calculus, I use programs like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MATLAB on an everyday basis, and I can help you learn how to use them. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Virginia.

I look forward to working with you!

Electrical Engineering

I have 40 years of experience working in the Electrical Engineering field for major electronics industry corporations: IBM, Loral Federal Systems, Lockheed Martin, and BAE Systems. My major focus has always been on precision analog circuit design, Phase-Locked Loops, and analog IC design; I have a moderate amount of experience in RF design and GHz signal integrity. I have had frequent opportunities bringing new employees up to speed, teaching them how to do circuit design in these areas. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University (1974), a Master of EE from The University of Virginia (1981), and a five-course Certificate in VLSI Design from George Mason University (2005).

Knowledgeable and patient tutor.

Ken helped me determine system equations whether linear, causal, stable and time-invariant. He also taught me convolution. He is very patient, will go through every concept and he also uses the book.

Great first Calculus session

Ken was easy to get along with and comfortable moving back and forth between explanations of how to solve the problem and what it really meant. We met in person, but discussed splitting on-line and in-person in the future after getting Ken's input on how to maximize the online experience for math tutoring.

Helpful and Experienced

Spent the lesson learning about different ways of approaching electronics problems. Ken was able to draw out and show step by step how to go about solving the problem. Would recommend for electronics questions.

Very Knowledgeable and Patient

Our first lesson went great. I was able to ask a lot of questions, and Ken patiently answered as many as time allowed. We discussed oscillating circuits, simulator hacks, and transistor operation. Thank you, Ken!

Breaks down complex concepts into simple steps

In two hours, Ken helped me understand basic analog circuits at a deeper level than my professor did in the past three months of my college class. He has a real skill for taking big, complicated concepts, and breaking them down into simple parts that are easy to understand. Then he ties those simple parts together and shows you how the complicated thing really isn't so hard!

Knowledgeable with great EE industry experience

Ken is bringing to the class all his EE industry experience. My son is finding lot of value in working with Ken as he is grasping his approach to circuit design, simulation, breadboarding and testing with the oscilloscope. Ken always shows different approaches to answer my son's questions. Ken's lessons are an amazing way for my son to get depth in EE circuit design. Thanks Ken for all your effort.

Ken is a good tutor for Statistics

After a 90 minute tutoring session the material was better understood. Additionally, he was available to go over material over the phone when needed instead of actually meeting.

Knowledgeable and Patient Tutor.

Ken does a great job simplifying statistics. He was kind, patient, and understanding. He took the time to listen to me to really understand what my needs were. I would highly recommend.
