About Kim

I have 13 years of college experience, however, I was not a professional student. My experience as a tutor started in High School and has continued through 25 years of professional experience as a Nuclear Engineering Safety Analyst. In High School, I played an active role in the "Learning Shop", first as a student in need of help and later as a tutor of math and physics. In college, my experience was tutoring my fellow classmates at the request of the professor or by personnel inquiries. In one case, I was approached by a PhD candidate and I tutored him on Numerical Methods so He could design, program, and run numerical simulations of His experiment. During my PhD, I had to "re-learn" what I had been taught for the purpose of finding faster ways to simulate the workings of a Nuclear Power Plant. The development process was not possible with the help of a number of master's level graduate students whom I had the responsibility to support and mentor. As a professional, in my roles of seniority, my door was always open to those who needed advice and direction. Thus included fellow engineers working around me and my customers ensuring they new more than just the answer, but also the "Whys", the "How Comes", and the "How To".

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
