I've been teaching English as a full-time, certified teacher for 7 years. I've worked in charter schools, private schools, and alternative education sites. My bachelor's degree is in English literature, and I also hold a master's degree in secondary education. I'm currently working on an education specialist's degree in reading education. I'm also a teacher consultant for the National Writing Project.

If a teacher has expressed concern with your child's work knowledge, fluency, comprehension, or writing mechanics, and you're not sure what to do, I can help. If teachers have not been helpful with identifying or communicating why your child struggles, I can help. If your child seems bored in class and needs some one-on-one challenge, I can help. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
