I am a high school math teacher in Loudoun County with over 20 years of experience in teaching. I currently serve as the math department chair and teach Calculus AB and Algebra II at my school. I have experience teaching ACT and SAT prep, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra II, Algebra II/Trig, Pre-Calculus, Math Analysis, and Calculus AB. I strive to help students not only understand the concepts being presented but also to build their math confidence, their arithmetic skills, and their ability to analyze and apply their knowledge. I work hard with students to help them develop the ability to see relationships between what they already know and what they are currently working on.
I have taught thousands of students over the years and what students consistently say about me is that they love my clear explanations, how patient, encouraging and supportive I am, how I can help them truly understand and not be afraid of math, and how I help them progress further in math than they thought they were capable of. I have 2 children of my own, one in high school and one in college, so I understand the pressures students face and the challenges they are up against. As a tutor, I seek to find ways to meet you where you are mathematically and help you progress to where you need to be at a pace that works for you. I will work with you on the topics you are currently studying to enhance your understanding or I will work with you on skills that you feel like you need to strengthen. Cindy was wonderful, my daughter has just started calculus and was having a difficult time with the work. After the first session with Cindy she has so much more knowledge and confidence. My daughter was ready to quit calculus before we met Cindy, thankfully she is now enjoying the class.
Vedika was very happy with yesterday's class. She felt like this was the kind of guidance she needed and that things that she knew became much more clearer. (Of course she also knows that she has to back it up with more work at home. We are keeping our fingers crossed on that).
This was my 13 year old daughters first lesson with Cindy. She was very personable and patient. My daughter left the lesson feeling very confident and looking forward to next weeks session, which I couldn't believe! Cindy gave her confidence and assurance that no question is a bad question. A+ tutor for us!
Cindy is great. She makes Algebra 2 understandable for my daughter. Her confidence and grades have improved thanks to Cindy!
Cindy is extremely knowledgeable in AP Calculus. She has helped my daughter tremendously. She has a lot of patience and easily conveys concepts. I highly recommend her as an AP Calculus tutor.
I couldn't ask for more in a tutor. She is knowledgeable, organized, kind and punctual. At every session not only does she cover whatever my son's assignments are, but she also brings supplementary material with her to reinforce the topic. My son absolutely loves her and after every lesson feels more confident with the topic.
Weeding through tutors can be an expensive and trying process. Our family has learned over the years, that an impressive resume posted to a website often does not translate into a skilled tutor. Well, Cindy is the real thing! My daughter needed a tutor specifically experienced in tutoring AP Calculus AB. In just one session, we quickly realized that Cindy's knowledge and expertise with AP Calculus would surpass our expectations. I was impressed with her ability to quickly assess my daughters strengths and weaknesses and put together a plan to meet her individual needs. Beyond that, it is refreshing to meet someone genuinely interested in teaching and helping students master challenging subjects.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
