James Madison University (Biology)
I have BS in Biology from James Madison University. As a pre-med student, my work ethic has earned me not only excellent grades, but also a deep and thorough knowledge of almost all areas in Biology. I have been taught in all, but not limited to the following: organisms, ecology, cellular and molecular biology, genetics, animal physiology, microbiology, genetics of cancer, neuroscience, etc. I have also been working in research labs for over the past 10 years, mostly involved in wetland ecology, biomechanics, biophysics, and RNA molecular biology. Overall, throughout the years, I have tutored various peers throughout my courses, including general chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, and of course, all levels of biology. In addition, I have taken various SAT and MCAT courses, which have not only prepared me for these exams, but have also taught me practical methods of teaching. Students may approach me with any questions they may have. Any areas where students struggle may require subsequent homework assignments.
I also teach basic level Farsi for those individuals who are interested in learning this language!
I am willing to meet individuals at a public library, in their home, or they are welcome to my home as well. Anywhere with a quiet space that individuals are comfortable with is appropriate. Although I do have a 24 hour cancellation policy, I do offer make-up classes. I am easy to communicate with and look forward to sharing my knowledge! I like how she ensures I have learned new concepts in Farsi before moving on to a new subject.
I have a BS in Biology from James Madison University. I have a deep and thorough knowledge of the vast areas in biology. I currently conduct research in a RNA molecular biology group at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
I have been raised in a bilingual household, speaking Farsi and English. I can speak Farsi fluently, and can read and write. I have taken a courses at James Madison University and have learned special techniques to learn/teach this language efficiently. I have taught others Farsi and have been able to teach Persian culture, including the food, dance, household rules, personalities, history, etc.
I did well in genetics and took genetics of cancer as an upper level course. I have a very good understanding of this subject, as I have tutored others in genetics. In addition, I work in a RNA molecular biology research group at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where I am actively being challenged in my genetics knowledge.
I did very well in this course and I worked as the TA (teachers assistant) for the microbiology course offered at James Madison University. I work at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where these microbial skills have shown to been quite an asset.
