I'm a life-long photographer that is skilled in fashion, portraiture and editorial photography both on location and in studio. Since I edit everything that is released to clients, I am skilled in Photoshop as well.
I am a member of Professional Photographers of America, and I love sharing what I have learned over the years.
My tutoring approach includes light study before our meeting, and then 1-on-1, hands-on moments to bring those aspects to life in real-world settings. Digital...

An experienced tutor who really loves to share his knowledge
I took some general lessons in Adobe Photoshop and Photography from Paul in our first session. What struck me the most were his intent to listen to my specific needs towards achieving the next level and his excitement about sharing his knowledge, be it small and extremely tricks or some deep lessons. To see the joy on his face while sharing his knowledge made me even more excited and even more hungry for knowledge than ever. I can't wait for our next session!!!

Great Lesson
I spent two hours reviewing some very specific and technical issues related to focal points on my Canon 5d. Paul is a great tutor and easy to work with. I am looking forward to more lessons.

Good tutor but can be unreliable
Paul is quite a good tutor. However, I learned he is not reliable and can no longer recommend him. After 2 successful 2-hour sessions, we had mutually arranged our next session a week or so in advance, and had both re-confirmed a couple days in advance. However, on the day of the appointment, as I was leaving my house, I received a text from him cancelling the session. Our appt was for 3 o'clock about 45 minutes away. I got this message at 2:06 pm: "I'm so sorry but I got called out on an assignment and cannot make today's 3 pm meeting." That was it. No offer to make it up to me, no warning the day before, nothing. This was a waste of my time preparing, and tangled up my plans for the day, because he got work elsewhere at teh last minute. Furthermore, there were things I needed to learn from him on that day, and so I had to scramble to find other resources. I don't think that working free-lance photographers necessarily can't honor their tutoring appointments, but I will certainly be more careful to check on that issue when selecting tutors in future.

I was going to offer a free class to make it up to you, but you immediately replied with, "End of tutoring. Sorry." My offer stands, if you wish: I will provide two free hours of tutoring for your inconvenience. ~Paul
Enthusiastic & immensely knowledgeable
Knowing I had been under-utilizing my camera I was astounded to learn of it's functionality and the breadth of menu guidance and meaning. Paul built upon the learning experience of the camera's hardware and menu options with understandable examples answering the many 'how' and 'why' reflexive questions. Paul's an engaging teacher and you come away eager to experiment.

A Gentle, Well Balanced Photography Tutor
There's many things I could say about Paul as a tutor, but the one thing that has struck me the most is that this guy is sweet. He makes you feel good about yourself and he has a balance in sharing his knowledge and his inspiration. He's refreshingly empowering. The first time I met him, it was like meeting an old friend and the second time our meeting was a bright spot in an otherwise stressful week. This is the joy of photography. Paul knows the tricks of photography, he has the knowledge, yet I love how he still radiates such joy about the subject. He's also generous minded. His rate per hour is in line with many, less experienced photography tutors. He had to drive an hour to meet with me, and he didn't hesitate to do this. Everything is a matter of timing, and it is cheery that I was ready to meet Paul as my photography tutor.

Engaging and Dedicated to Someone Learning New Information and Skills!
Paul's knowledge and dedication to teaching far exceeded my expectations! I am a novice with computer skills and even timid about declaring how little I know. THIS gentleman allowed me to ask my very elementary questions, and he patiently taught me new skills. Paul arrived with a syllabus. There was no rigidity in our use of it, yet it proved to be a great impetus for addressing specific, needed skills. If any of the materials you're wanting to cover are listed in Mr. L's tutoring subjects, don't dare hesitate to contact him! ENJOY learning; I did!
