In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I worked at Chesterbrook Academy for six years, where I worked with many students who were identified dyslexic. I use the Wilson Reading System in the teaching of reading. This program was developed especially for dyslexics. It is a multi-sensory, step-by-step program that uses decodable text. I feel I am qualified to teach dyslexics.
I worked for six years at Chesterbrook Academy, where I tutored children in grades Pre-K through 6th grade in reading, writing and math. My specialty area is working with Pre-K through 2nd grade on beginning reading and writing skills. I use very structured reading and writing programs to help the child learn in a systematic way, from less difficult to more difficult.
