Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Praxis

I have a Bachelors of Science degree in Industrial Engineering (1989), I have a Master's in Engineering (1990). I switched careers and obtained my teaching credential in 2005. When I moved to Virginia I took the PRAXIS II test for mathematics as part of getting by Virginia teaching credential. I taught high school mathematics up to the Calculus level, for six years. I believe I can tutor teaching candidates on the math portion of the Praxis Core and the Math-specific test.

We are early in our plan. However, it is obvious she knows what she is teaching and is a very good tutor. We have an organized plan and I am confident it will work. Very pleased!
