I'm Jeremy. I attend JMU where I am seeking a degree in History with a minor in German. I graduated high school with my associate's degree and entered JMU an academic sophomore. I am looking to help as many students of any age to succeed in school and develop the skills necessary to be successful at whatever he/she seeks to become. This past summer, I participated in an internship through the Southwestern Company which allowed me to relocate to Texas and help families by providing educational materials door to door. Through this internship, I developed a great sense of the importance of discipline and schedule which has aided me in performing substantially better in school this year. I would like to help students learn the same skills I had the privilege of learning so that they too can do well in school. My strongest subject is history, but I am also a good writer, and I am good with grammar. Math is not my strength, but I can get through it. A very effective method that I utilize is the usage of goal setting. I require each of my students to set weekly goals (homework goals, etc.) and they communicate with me daily to make sure they are on track and accomplishing these goals. This has proven to be very effective and successful. I have a minimum requirement of one hour for each meeting. I look forward to working with any students that seek help. Thank you.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As a freshman at JMU, I had no study skills. I had to learn how to study and implement it into my daily routine. I am now on a schedule similar to a work day. I have drastically improved my grades from learning to study. If I had to teach myself, I can teach others.
