About Erica

My passion is working with students and I love to see my students succeed. With over 15 years of teaching and tutoring experience at the K-12, college, and adult learner levels, I am patient and skilled at explaining ideas and concepts in multiple ways to accommodate the needs of my students, including students with learning differences, such as dyslexia and processing delays.

My specialty areas include reading, writing, grammar, critical thinking, speech and language- delayed reading skills, study and test-taking skills, statistics, and government/politics. I can assist you in preparing for the Big Four (ACT, SAT, PSAT, and GRE) or help you pull up your grades to increase your academic performance!

I use effective activities, strategies, and resources to inspire and enrich each student's learning. Direct instruction, visual aids, computers, math manipulatives, hands-on activities, mini-labs, student-centered discussions, one-on-one tutoring and small-group instruction are used to honor multiple learning styles, students' needs and goals, as well as to ensure they are active learners.

I currently hold a Ph.D. in Education and degrees in Sociology, Urban Politics, and Public Policy; I serve as a university professor.

If you need to get started right away and want immediate results, then I am the right tutor for you!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
