About Stephen

I have been practicing law in Washington, D.C. for 35 years and have taught throughout my career in seminars, legal post-graduate courses, and tutoring formats. I was an adjunct member of the faculty for ten years at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, where I taught a graduate course on U.S. intellectual property licensing and antitrust law. My areas of specialization include litigation, legal writing, intellectual property (particularly patent law), licensing, antitrust, international trade, and firearms law. I am rated AV Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell, the top rating given to attorneys for legal skills and ethics.

I was a member of the Emory Law Journal editorial board and was published while in law school -- my legal writing skills are first-rate. I majored in history at Northwestern University and concentrated on American foreign policy, modern American and world history, and U.S. military history. I have continually expanded my knowledge in those areas and am comfortable teaching those subjects as well as purely legal subject matter.

I majored in history at Northwestern University and was invited into their honors program. I concentrated on American foreign policy, modern American and world history, and U.S. military history. I have continually expanded my knowledge in those areas, which are of personal interest to me. My work as an attorney has given me in-depth knowledge of government and politics.

I am actually an expert in powerlifting more than physique. I have been a competitive powerlifter for 30 years and still bench press 335 lbs. in strict form at the age of 60. I have competed successfully at the state level in the 148 and 165 pound weight classes and coached at the national level. I am particularly well positioned to provide strength training to young athletes involved in competitive sports and to adults seeking to improve their strength and fitness.

I have a fairly flexible schedule and am willing to teach on a schedule that will work for you. I encourage you to contact me and see what we can do to make you successful.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
