Radford University (Early Childhood Educ)
I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education/Early Childhood Education from Radford University in 2013. Since graduation I have worked with a school district as a one-to-one aide and have been an assistant teacher for a preschool that focused on the Montessori and Reggio Emilia curriculum.
I have never been a tutor, but I have realized that after working as a one-to-one aide that I prefer to work with 1-3 children as opposed to a classroom of children because I feel as if I can relate to the child better and see their progress. I think that tutoring would be a great opportunity to see a child make progress and for them to see their potential because of my help.
My education and past experience in the education field make me feel like I would be a great elementary tutor. I have observed, interned and worked in elementary schools over the past 4 years.
I am a self-taught photographer who has a small photography business. Photography is a huge passion of mine and I would love to teach anyone else what I have learned over the past 3 years. I use Nikon products and am very knowledgeable with Adobe Lightroom 5.
While living in California, I worked for the local school district of the town I lived in. I was hired as a instructional aide for the severely handicapped. I worked one-on-one with a little girl with autism in a regular education kindergarten classroom. My primary duties were to help her stay on task with her daily activities and routines. I also implemented behavior plans and techniques to assist her in the inclusive setting.
I would love to start getting the experience as a tutor to help broaden my experience in the educational field. I really look forward to hearing from you! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have experience working with young children with a variety of disabilities through internships and one job placement. I have experience with autism as I worked one on one with a 5 year old with autism. I am a self-taught photographer. I have studied books, internet articles, magazines and other resources to learn everything I know about photography. I started becoming interested in high school when I took the yearbook class my junior and senior year which required me to learn photoshop, design the yearbook's layout, and take pictures around the school. Since then, I still love photography and have opened up my own small business.
