I served as an student instructor for my undergraduate circuit analysis class for two years. In that time period not only did I handle the responsibilities such as creating and grading quizzes and tests, I also performed most of my work through the office hours, which were mandatory and usually filled with confusing students. This experience taught me the value of presenting material and working through concepts in an organized, creative, and engaging way that builds confidence and accurately prepares them for the challenges ahead. I also minored in public speaking as an undergraduate and value the presentation of information in all my work. I believe this mentality will allow me to work with students in a way that is relatable and exciting as well productive. I have a strong passion for teaching and love the feeling of the "ah ha" moment when someone learns something new.
Breaking down concepts to an understandable level. Being patient with the person I am working with as well as coming up with better examples and metaphors to illustrate the problem and solution.
Experience in tutoring these subjects in the past. I am very good at helping you understand the algorithmic aspects and functionality of the concepts. I have a minor in public speaking so I can definitely communicate the complex concepts in a way that is understandable.
I really love helping other students out and I am very competitive when it comes to your success. If we work together I will do everything in power to make sure we win together. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been helping students with Math subjects all through college. I have completed math courses up to Calculus 3, but I am still relatable and passionate about the foundational course of Algebra 1. I work well with younger students and I have over two years experience in tutoring while I was in college.
