I have a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. This education included significant studies in the field of mathematics. In addition I have approximately 40 years work experience in the aerospace field, most of it designing hardware requiring significant math.
I am currently retired but have always enjoyed working with younger engineers and have often acted as their mentors. This may have been as an official position, but usually just happened by itself...

An outstanding tutor. He has my highest endorsement.
Update: It has been a pleasure working with Lee. He is by far the most gifted instructor/tutor for college preparation and High School Math that we encountered during the past two years. If you are considering someone to assist your children, then Lee is the best asset in this area. Hire him as soon as you can!!! Lee has been and continues to be an outstanding tutor for our children. Thorough and detail-oriented, he has been able to provide context and depth of understanding of the subject which was lacking in the instruction given by the local school system. A very valuable asset.

Getting on Track
This lesson was what was needed to get our student refocused on homework and recommitted to working with teacher to stay on track in class. Being flexible and patient are helpful characteristics to working with a teen that is struggling.

Patient Tutor Who Really Helped
Leroy was able to help me get a better understanding of integrals and rate of change in preparation for my test. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to help with differential equations, though he did give me resources for me to learn it on my own.

Knowledgeable and relatable to the student
Thank you Leroy for identifying the weak areas and really getting to know my daughter as a student. Physics is hard, and your input was very valuable. Her tutoring session was excellent.

Helpful test prep
Lee was helpful in explaining some of the corrections to my test so that I can prepare for my retake.

Very knowledgeable and patient. Identified problem areas and developed a plan for the reviews.
First lesson. Will provide reviews after next sessions. Will start from the basics of Algebra II and build from a stronger foundation and basics.

Helpful
He helped our daughter through summer work and understanding of concepts not grasped from last year's analytic functions/trig in order to prepare for upcoming calculus in her senior year.

Lee was able to sit down with my son and assess his strengths and weaknesses to provide him with focus areas to continue to develop.

An outstanding tutor for our daughter
We have been using Lee as a tutor for our daughter for about a year and he has done a fantastic job. He is the perfect tutor as he is patient and takes the time to explain things clearly. Math is not a subject our daughter enjoys as it has always been a struggle for her. Last November, she was having a hard time with Algebra II and had failed her most recent exam and seemed ready to give up. We looked for a tutor and are very thankful to have found Lee. He was able to explain the concepts in terms she was able to comprehend and she finished the year with a B. This year she is taking pre-calculus and Lee once again is able to clearly explain the concepts to her if she is confused at school. He has always been very flexible and willing to work with her as long as it takes. She really enjoys working with Lee and he has made this a subject that she not only enjoys but, more importantly, understands.

Nice enough guy.
Was unable to help my daughter with functionals analytical geometry. He called it nasty math and struggled with it. I decided to find another tutor who has experience with this kind of math.
Sue, 2 lessons with LeroyTutor responded:The homework assignment given this student in her school class consisted of a type of problem I have never before seen given in any high school or college class. I am familiar with the problems (finding roots of high order polynomials). Most are extremely difficult to solve unless a computer is used. Without using a computer the only method is educated guesses and trial and error. That is why I used the term “nasty”. Maybe not the best term to use but it expressed what I felt at the time. These problems are quite easy to create but very difficult to solve because there are no “closed form” solution methods. I felt this was an unfair situation created in the classroom. Einstein would have had difficulty.
