I do not think of myself as a tutor or a teacher. Instead, I think of myself as a student also. I am always wanting to learn new things and new ways to analyze information. I feel that the more knowledge we have, the better ability we have to succeed in life. Therefore, I would like to demonstrate this dedication to learning for my students as well.
To provide some information on my educational background, I have Associate (AA), Bachelor (BS), and Master's (MS) degrees from Liberty University. My undergraduate degrees are in education and social sciences. I am also currently working towards my doctorate (Ph.D.) degree. I am currently a substitute teacher and have past experience in both teaching and tutoring. Despite recently joining WyzAnt, I have years of tutoring experience in several different subjects including math, writing, and history.
My favorite grade school subjects are mathematics and history so those are the subjects I specialize in. I feel highly comfortable tutoring any history content and any mathematics content from elementary math to algebra.
Importantly, my tutoring philosophy is about the student -- NOT the tutor. I believe the most effective form of tutoring focuses on the student and their unique learning characteristics. Everyone is different and learns things in different ways. As a tutor, I strive to determine how a student learns best and use that method to help them achieve success in subjects they might be struggling in.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have significant experience, both professionally and educationally, in working with elementary students. I have an Associate's degree in Education and a Bachelor's degree in Education and Social Sciences. I also have had internship experience with elementary students, as well as tutoring and substitute teaching experience with all levels of public school students, including elementary. My ability to incorporate content and foster knowledge retention is excellent. I would be a superb candidate for tutoring students from this educational level.
