I have subbed in the Stafford County School system six years prior to becoming a full-time paraprofessional for the last four years. I have subbed at the elementary level and feel qualified to tutor in that age group. I work with sped kids, and most of them are on an elementary level in their classes. I have coqme up with lesson plans and strategies for them and co-teach in the subjects of language arts and math.
Phonics,

Phonics

I subbed in Stafford County Schools for 6 years, mostly at the Elementary level, and I believe that gives me an advantage when it comes to working with elementary level students. I also work with Special Ed., in language arts, using different strategies, including phonics to help them build vocabulary and up their reading levels.
Study Skills,

As a SpEd paraprofessional, one of my challenges is to help the students develop good study habits. We start with organization of work, then chunk the work into small segments and smaller time segments so that the student isn't overwhelmed. This strategy has been met with success.
