About Leta

I began tutoring as Graduate Assistant at Longwood University in the fall of 2014, and I was fortunate enough to be asked to continue working in this position for the 2015-16 academic year. I have been lucky enough to work with, and be trained by, Longwood's exceptional English faculty. I found that I truly enjoy working with students and helping them to improve their academic standing. Over the course of the last year and a half I have worked with almost 200 students, and I hope to make a full-time career of this kind of work.

I specialize in English Literature and Composition. From freshmen English courses, to senior capstone's, I have experience helping student reach their full potential where reading, writing, and research are involved. When it comes to writing, I am happy to work with full drafts, partial drafts, or just be part of the brainstorming process.

I am, however, not an editor or proofreader. I will not go through a student's work and fix their grammatical errors one by one. Rather, I will look at these errors with the student in an effort to teach correct grammar and punctuation, and how to avoid these problems in the future.

I truly love what I do. I understand that reading and writing are often not students favorite subjects, so I try to make learning as interesting as possible. I believe the skills I teach are skills that are applicable throughout all disciplines. I am happy to work with local students face-to-face, but I also have experience working with student via video chat mediums.

Please feel free to contact me with any inquiries. I look forward to hearing from you!
