I was born and raised in Florida where I went to high school and graduated summa cum laude in the top 2 percent of my class. While I was there I was a part of a number of volunteer froups and tutored many different age groups ranging from 1st grade to 12th grade in all subjects. I was given a couple of awards for my work tutoring in Latin and Math at my high school. This helped me realize how much I enjoyed teaching.
I went on to pursue joint bachelor's and masters degrees as well as a minor at SIT which I completed in 4 years with high honors for both degrees. I spent some time there doing unofficial tutoring for my peers but primarily focused on my studies.
I currently work as a naval architect in the DMV area and am looking to pursue my interest in teaching as a part time job.
My experience in tutoring is primarily in helping with already provided assignments while working towards a better understanding of the material. I also have experience giving full lessons in some topics and i have experience lecturing. My teaching method emphasizes student participation.
My interests and skills are mainly in the STEM fields but I have also had success in history and English subjects.
I have an extensive background in math. I am extremely competent at teaching math courses up to Calculus 1 and have experience tutoring in almost every math level up to that point. I received a perfect score on the math section of the AC, a 5 on the AP Calculus exam, and excellent grades in all math courses.
Science is a big part of my background as a STEM major. As an engineer I have to use physics every day. I received passing scores on every AP science that was offered: chemistry, physics, biology, environmental, and psychology.
I have a huge amount of experience coding in a number of different languages both for work and in college for projects ranging from data analysis code, program creation, and robotics. Coding is a passion of mine.
I am primarily looking to tutor because I enjoy teaching. I am a very patient teacher and enjoy working with people towards the success of their goals. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I took an entire 3 credit programming course in C++ at Stevens. This was complimented by a 3 credit lab course that required the programming of a robot to navigate a maze and complete tasks based upon 5 sensors that were integrated into the robot. I also have current experiencing using it at work.
I have been using Matlab for over 3 years now. Experience began in college for a class using it to evaluate matrices and then used stimulinkt to evaluate a complex problem. Just finished a month long project independentry coding for a secret data analysis project.
Many years experience using excel ranging from simple spreadsheets to complex VBA codes.
Spent a semester taking a course in data collection and analysis using python. Experience ranged from text file reading and analysis to website reading and analysis. Generated 12+ codes of 50 + lines. 2-4 codes of 200+ lines.
Took a 3 credit graphics course in solidworks. The course ended in a project where I modelled the parts of a stand up vacuum and assembled them within solidworks. Spent a 3 month internship working for the Navy where I used solid works to model a concept for a ship/helicopter hybrid that a model of was developed.
