Hi, my name is Will, and I am a High School Mathematics teacher and tutor. I believe that everyone is able to learn and grow, and I really enjoy helping students break down and analyze difficult problems in order to solve them.
After earning my Bachelor's Degree in Integrated Science and Technology from James Madison University, I went to work as an Environmental Scientist for a government contractor. After a while, I realized that although my work was meaningful, I wanted to give back to the community and help others more directly. I decided to become a high school teacher. I went back to school and earned my Master's Degree in Transition Special Education from The George Washington University, got a job with Fairfax County Public Schools, and have never looked back. I can truly say that I have found a job I love.
I specialize in Geometry, which I currently teach full-time, but I also have experience with Middle School Math, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Pre-Calculus. I have tutored students of all ages, from elementary school to high school. My students have had a wide range of backgrounds and abilities, from those at magnet and private schools to those with multiple disabilities. I have extensive experience working with students with learning disabilities, emotional disabilities, autism, ADD/ADHD, etc.
If you would like to schedule a session, please send me a message. I look forward to working with you.
Thanks for your consideration!

After earning my Bachelor's Degree in
Mr. D. has significantly increased my daughter's understanding of Geometry. Her confidence increases with each tutoring session. Mr. D. is very patient, presents the subject matter in an understandable way, and then reinforces the lesson taught by going over practice exercises with my daughter that test her comprehension. My daughter's fear of Geometry is subsiding, and we are very happy with the progress she is making.
My son did not do well on his first quarter report card. Will worked one time with him and he got his first A on a quiz today. Today was their second meeting and they worked for another hour. Hey! So far so good!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
