About Alisha

Hi there, I’m Alisha – an enthusiastic, aspiring Computer Scientist on the launchpad of her career with a passion for all things tech, puppies, and chocolate. I also really enjoy sports and have represented my school as part of sports teams -primarily basketball for 5 years, but also football and volleyball.

I am excited by how technology and computer science has redefined the human lifestyle in every aspect. Nevertheless, I believe that the device shouldn’t just dictate what I can do with it, rather I should be able to control the device by being able to design and program it.

In my final 2 years in high school I took part in a work experience placement where I volunteered as an assistant for teaching.

I have also been involved in promoting The Hour of Code and Computer Science Education Week 2013 and 2014/15 at school alongside, researching and creating an eye-catching computer science display board, and organizing an assembly after a week of fun computer science related activities for years 7-13.

I achieved an A* for the Mathematics and an A for Additional Mathematics for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education. I have a strong mathematics understanding and able to explain methods in an easy-to-remember way.

I have graduated from a prestigious British/Dutch International school and achieved an A in the University of Cambridge Advanced Level Examinations for Computer Science. I received the Highest Mark in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for the University of Cambridge Advanced Subsidiary Level Examination for Computing. For the International General Certificate of Secondary Education, I achieved an A* in ICT, and completed the course earlier than the rest of my peers.

I am able to program in Python and I am currently learning to program in Java. My ICT course has made me proficient in using the Microsoft Office suite and I am also studying Computer Science at university level. Most importantly I am truly passionate about this subject and I am able to explain theories and methods in a simple way with practical examples.

I am really easy to talk to or connect with so do please feel free to contact me on this website. I live close to the City of Fairfax Regional Library so I would happily arrange meetings with you there if needed. Even if you need any college advice, I would be glad to help. All the best with your studying!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Computer Science

I have achieved an A in the Cambridge International Advanced Level Examinations for Computer Science. I also received the honor of achieving the highest mark in my city for the Advanced Subsidiary Examination in Computing.
