All my 3 children have worked with Brittany and love her. She is patient with them and has a very sweet demeanor. She comes prepared and has a wonderful teaching style. She's always on time and responds quickly by text or email.
My kids (2nd grade and K) absolutely adore Brittany. She is patient and kind, but focused. They really enjoy their sessions with her and their confidence is really growing. For me, Brittany is extremely responsive by email and text. Fantastic all around!!
Brittany has been great to work with this summer. Both of my kids work well with her and she is very patient with them and they can be a little "huggy" and a bit on the curious side - lots of questions. She has connected well with them and is adjusting the tutoring sessions and approaches based on each child's needs.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to teach elementary subjects K-6 because I have a Virginia Professional Teacher's License. I have participated in several trainings to stay abreast of new reading and math strategies. I work closely with the reading and math specialist to improve instruction. I have a Bachelors in Education from Hampton University and a Master's in Education from George Mason University.
I have been teaching 1st grade for 3 years and I love math! I have helped come up with intervention plans for struggling students and have seen them improve greatly. I am well versed in resources such as Investigations and the Guided Math model.
I am a 1st grade teacher in the Fairfax County School System. I have worked with students extensively in guided reading which includes phonics and reading instruction. I also participate in teaching two intervention groups that focus specifically on phonics and writing.
Teaching reading is one of my greatest pleasures! Throughout my education at Hampton University and George Mason University, I have had extensive training on reading instruction. Since getting a job with Fairfax County Public Schools, I have participated in several trainings and I work closely with the reading specialists to improve reading instruction. I am well versed in the Guided Reading Model, as well as the Daily 5 model for literacy centers. This year I have lead two intervention groups in writing and reading. Most students in my groups now have a better handle on phonics, mechanics of writing, and reading fluency.
