McGill University (Cell Biology)
Hello! I am a college student home for the summer and I am available to tutor from June-August. I live in Fairfax, near Vienna metro, but I am willing to travel to you as long as you live within 15-20 miles.
I just finished my second year at McGill University in Montreal. I am currently pursuing a BS in Anatomy & Cell Biology and I graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (Class of 2007) in Alexandria, VA. I am particularly good in Math and Sciences, but I can also tutor in social studies/history and English. I have excellent academic credentials. Elementary and middle school were a breeze for me--several All A Honor Rolls and few A/B Honor Rolls. High school was tough, but I still graduated with a 3.8 GPA in the best high school in the country.
I am very easy to get along with and I love working with children. Unfortunately, I do not have previous long-term tutoring experience. I did some tutoring during high school as part of a mentoring program for girls and I do help my younger sister with homework and studying (she is in 7th grade). My teaching style is whatever works for you. I think that every student learns differently, and I will definitely take this into account. Although I have always been a good student, this does not mean that I have never asked people for help. I attribute my success to the people who have helped me when I needed assistance throughout my academic career thus far. I want to be part of someone's success and I truly believe that I can do this by being part of this tutoring program. Hello! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
