I am seeking positions where I could assist students with foreign language and social studies classes, namely Spanish, Italian and history. I have a bachelor's degree in Modern Foreign Language from James Madison University, a highly ranked university in the south where I also completed part of the teaching program. The teaching program at that school is within the top three in the Commonwealth of Virginia. I completed minors in medical Spanish, business Italian and Spanish to English Translation and Interpretation. My teaching experience includes working in public schools where I taught Spanish for grades preK-4 as well as a private school where I teach Spanish for grades 3-5. My curriculum as an undergraduate was heavily in the social sciences in conjunction with the language classes.
I am flexible in my scheduling and am willing to travel. I am capable of supplementing lessons with additional materials. I can be accessible by phone and email for students who may need my help when I am not with them. I am also willing to work with more than one student in the same household or the same setting for the price of paying for one. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
