Bio

I am an alumnus of George Mason University. I was an English/Writing and Rhetoric major with a minor in History. I earned a 3.95 GPA and was involved in Pride Alliance and three honor societies: Tau Sigma, Pi Gamma Mu, and Delta Alpha Pi. I was the accompanist of NOVA Family Church of Heavenly Parent's Holy Community (FFWPU) for 7 years. Our Learning Center building will no longer be used by us.

I am an alumnus of George Mason University. I was an English/Writing and Rhetoric major with a minor in History. I have restarted my role as an accompanist, alongside other accompanists and band members, at the Washington Times in the Arbor Ballroom for the Greater Capital region--DC, MD, and VA--where we will play/sing and conduct church service on rotating schedules. My philosophy of teaching is that emotional intelligence is just as important as regular intelligence. I learned piano from Mrs. Emiko N. in Nokesville, VA from 2009-2016 -- such commitment! I earned Superior ratings for Piano Solo from 2010-2016 as part of the NFMC's Junior Festivals, and I am a member of the NFMC as a piano teacher! I was a Third Thursday Thrillers book club participant from Feb. 2019 - Feb. 2021.

I will utilize all resources at my disposal to ensure that you have the skills necessary to ace that vocabulary quiz or write a top-notch essay. I love seeing the progress of my students. I am a published essayist and poet in Ursa Major Literary Magazine (FPHS) and a published poet in Volition (GMU). I am an avid Quora, Medium, & Instagram blogger.

I got a 505 on the VCLA, an M.Ed. exam, which is required of all M.Ed. students in Virginia. This is a certification/credential that boosts my ethos. I earned a 178 on the English Praxis exam, the other M.Ed. exam. The Praxis Subject Assessment is uniquely subject specific and required before starting one's internship in the Master's program. So, basically, I could more readily become a public school teacher, but I have chosen not to go down that path. For in-person students, I can tutor at my house or at the Montclair Community Library.

I have composed a few pieces using Musescore: "Black Storm Clouds," "Canon in D Variation," "Brown Earth," "Asian Waters," and one song, "God Is Kind to All of Us." These pieces are mostly in the intermediate level. I understand the music terms, rhythms, note values, dynamics, and so forth, while also being able to help you in creating lyrics if you want to create songs and not piano compositions. I may later join a different Prince William County book club that is located closer to my home. I've written a music nonfiction book that is published on my website, entitled, "The Black-and-White Magnificence: Pianistic Characteristics," that illustrates my piano repertoire notes, my past repertoire, my autobiographical content, my NFMC (National Federation of Music Clubs) experience, essays that are musically relevant from my coursework, poems that are musically relevant, one music testimony from a friend and fellow musician, some music reviews of musician-YouTubers, and reviews of Chopin, Beethoven, Alicia Keys, a few Christian WGTS 91.9 singers/bands, and a few other details. I took an AP Music Theory course back in high school and passed the exam (despite the fact that I am not able to sing). I know English fluently as I studied it in college/university, so I am able to communicate complex music theory ideas to you in a pleasant and serene manner.

I have composed using Musescore 3 software, and I put my compositions on YouTube: "Black Storm Clouds," "Asian Waters," "Canon in D Variation," "Spiral Staircase," and "Brown Earth." I had been a volunteer accompanist at NOVA Family Church since 2012 with approximately 600 documented hours from Fall 2012 until March 2020, including the many hours spent practicing and performing the church/Christian songs at church and including the many hours spent practicing for the church/Christian songs at my house. I earned Superior ratings at the Manassas Baptist Church (NFMC) every year from 2010-2016, I am an accompanist for the Capital Heavenly Parent's Holy Community Band, and I am affiliated with the National Federation of Music Clubs through the Woodbridge Music Club.

I was involved in the Third Thursday Thrillers book club, and I was a member from February 2019 until February 2021. It was with many older ladies, and we all proved to be knowledgeable during the meetings. Besides the books we read in this club, I read the required texts for my coursework and many other popular books (e.g. NYT bestsellers, dystopian novels, fantasy novels, and young adult books). I may later join a different Prince William County book club that is located closer to my home. I have resources that we can use to improve your literacy abilities, including vocabulary, grammar, Creative Writing prompts, quizzes, multiple choice questions, and passages to read.

The PSAT is the precursor to the actual SAT, so if you're in 9th, 10th, or 11th grade, I'd love to help you with this particular test. Analyzing the idiosyncratic processes and connotative ideas of any given passage takes time, while knowing the grammatical and denotative meanings of words and phrases proves to be essential. I can also help with the PSAT Math section, which involves logical reasoning, solving for x, means, medians, modes, systems of equations, word problems, formulas for shapes, and so much more!

You'll have to do the SAT practice tests that I assign without looking at the answer keys. Then, we'll discuss which answers are correct, as well as why those answers are correct. We'll discuss test-taking strategies (e.g. process of elimination, identifying patterns or themes within a set of questions and its passage to be able to get multiple questions correct because they talk about similar ideas, and focusing on a particular line or section of a passage and a few contextual sentences before and after that part).
