Regardless of your age and level in school you have to learn to teach yourself. I excel at teaching students how to teach themselves so they are successful in any class regardless of the subject.
I taught middle and high school science for 13 years with my latest teaching job at a Secondary School in Fairfax County. Subjects I have taught include biology, chemistry, physics, physical science, and earth science. I specialize in developing strong study habits and skills and making the content make sense. I enjoy working with all levels of students. I was a science fair coordinator, science team coach and developed a new Chemistry 2 course which was offered at two high schools. I am also an endorsed administrator and have been a principal for both private and public schools.
I currently work at the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) for their Virtual School developing online content and working with other virtual teachers. I look forward to helping you or your child achieve their goals both in school and in life! My motto: Whether you think you can, or think you can’t, you are right! Regardless of your age and level in school you have to learn to teach yourself. I excel at teaching students how to teach themselves so they are successful in any class regardless of the subject.

Leslie was a big help right from the first visit. She inquired in advance about the topics of concern and came prepared with practice worksheets. Leslie is very approachable, knows her stuff. Shes everything you'd want in a tutor.
I really appreciate your comment. I enjoyed working with both students as they were highly motivated to succeed in their classes.
A wonderful patience professor with thousands of ways to enrich the process of learning, while bringing out the joy, passion and amazement of young and old learners alike. What a joy!
Leslie did a fabulous job reviewing and preparing my daughter for an upcoming assessment. She was also very encouraging, helping my daughter with her confidence.
Thank you for your positive feedback. It's great to work with students like your daughter who are highly motivated to succeed.
Leslie arrived with just a positive fresh air of ....you can do chemistry, and lifted a heavy weight from our shoulders. Immediately she started sorting out things...from what we did know to what we didn't know ....the dots are starting to connect!
Leslie knows her subject and how to teach it. She helped my daughter clarified concepts she has trouble with. My daughter is looking forward for a next lesson.
It was a pleasure working with your daughter. She is a highly motivated learner.
Leslie helped my child with environmental science. She quickly understood exactly what he need help with and devised a plan to get him on track.
Leslie gets down to business right away and comes prepared with her own worksheets and examples. She knows the material cold. Leslie has been a big help in Chemistry this semester.
Leslie was very kind and patient. I'm very appreciative. Leslie takes the time to understand her students different needs and learning styles.
Thank you for the positive review. I know that each student has different needs and I meet them where they are and then we can move forward together!
When an online session failed to work Leslie was willing to meet my son at a local coffee shop. He reported that all of his questions were answered and the material covered was clear and easily understood after the tutoring session.
Thank you for the positive feedback. I understand when students need help and want answers so I try to be as accommodating as possible.
She is very prepared and teaches it so smoothly. She helped me with dimensional analysis & it was coherent & I was able to understand it through out the lesson.
Leslie has been an absolute lifesaver and so beneficial to my performance in 10th Grade Chemistry so far this semester. Leslie got me up to speed right off the bat, teaching me about polyatomic ions, bond polarity, how to conduct dimensional analysis, figuring out structural formulas - the list goes on. Prior to lessons with Leslie, I literally had no idea about anything to do with Chemistry, and pretty much just three lessons into her tutoring, I was performing better than any class I am taking currently. I highly recommend Leslie's tutoring, because the feeling of confidence moving forward in the year after gaining the knowledge I have so far through her teaching methods cannot be beat.
Our Sophmore in high school needs help pulling together what she's learning in order to apply and come to an understanding. After her first lesson we observed more confidence and enthusiasm for chemistry.
My daughter is behind in Chemistry - but Leslie helped her immediately, concisely, and supportively. You will not go wrong with this tutor!
Leslie was great. She really knows chemistry, and she teaches the material in a way that you can relate to.
A patient tutor with in-depth knowledge of Chemistry. She is also is very responsive and is always available for her student's questions.
Leslie quickly understood my son's current level (starter) in Chemistry and where he was struggling. She met him where he was and helped him understand the concepts at his level. She was also gave him some clever ways to memorize things, which he found very helpful.
Leslie has taught high school and is the mother of teenagers, so she understands them! She was wonderful in not only teaching biology to my son but also in helping him with his organization and study skills. She also took the time to talk to his teacher. I highly recommend Leslie!
Leslie was an excellent tutor for my son who was a struggling Chemistry student. She can easily determine exactly what areas need to be addressed in order to support a student. She can easily explain material and provides lessons that help a student gain a better understanding of the subject. Leslie truly cares about her students.
Leslie is great. It is clear she has a lot of teaching experience. She listened and really helped my son.
He felt very comfortable with her.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I was a Zoology major with emphasis in cell biology. I taught high school biology I and biology II. I held certification to teach biology in TX, OK, VA, MD and WA.
I taught Chemistry I (12 years) and AP chemistry (2 years). I designed a Chemistry II course which was taught in OK and VA high schools. I held chemistry teaching certification in VA, MD, OK, TX and WA.
I taught physics, physical science and aerospace science in OK and TX. I secured a grant for OK high school to implement a new science curriculum and taught that curriculum to 9 - 12 graders. The science subjects taught include Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and AP Chemistry. I held teaching certifications in physics and physical science in TX and OK.
I have a B.S from the University of Maryland in Zoology. Courses taken for this degree include: genetics, cell and developmental biology, ecology and evolution. Zoology is a specialized biology degree and I have used this degree to obtain teacher certification in many sciences because of the breadth of the coursework required which also included entomology and botany.
