For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been a Sunday School teacher for many years and have even taught lessons in the local Christian School. I enjoy teaching from both the New and Old Testaments and relating the information to our everyday lives.
I have taught 1st-5th grade in Augusta County working with students on their SOL requirements. I co-taught all subjects for the grades listed above. My students are able to successfully learn all subjects taught in elementary school.
Presently, I teach phonics as a skill in our Reading class. The skill is an ongoing activity that has to be reinforced in the students reading. It is important to them in fluency and comprehension. I currently teach 6th - 8th grade middle school general and special education reading classes.
